Mexican Red Deer

If you’re looking for the best Mexican Restaurants in Red deer then you’ve come to the right page. As a disclaimer, the list of restaurants below aren’t necessarily all from Mexico, but they do all provide some of Red Deer’s best Latin American cuisine.

Pupuseria Cristy (https://pupuseria-cristy-inc.business.site/?utm_source=gmb&utm_medium=referral)

Pupuseria Cristy is both an amazing little Latin restaurant and grocery store. The grocery store is reminiscent of many of my trips down south as they had many products from a variety of central and South American countries there. It is a busy little spot with traffic going non-stop between the store and restaurant.

I was feeling a bit adventurous and went with the Tacos de lengua which is beef tongue and often served with salsa verde. The beef was both tender and perfectly seasoned. My partner went with the Tacos el Pastor which was seasoned spit-grilled pork. Both dishes were truly authentic and were perfect sizes at a price that can’t be beat. We will definitely be heading back there again. For dessert we had the tres leches which is a Latin America type of sponge cake made with 3 types of milk which included evaporated milk, condensed milk and heavy cream, hence the name tres leches.

On my way out of the store I grabbed an Inca Kola. Inca Kola originated in Peru in 1935 and was created by a British immigrant. This pop has such a sweet and unique fruity flavor to it. I also grabbed some Chiky cookies which are chocolate coated on one side. The first time I had these was in Costa Rica and they definitely brought back many memories. So whether your in the hunt for a Mexican restaurant in Red Deer or a Latin American specialty store, Red Deer offers a variety including the amazing and wondering hospitality of Pupuseria Cristy.

Taco Loft (https://www.tacoloft.ca)

One of Taco loft’s best features on a warm sunny day is their patio. It is a vibe while enjoying an ice cold beer or one of their famous margaritas making this one of Red Deer’s best restaurants. Taco loft is located right beside Occam’s Razor. Their tacos are extremely filling as they definitely don’t shy out on the toppings. Most of their menu items are gluten free and start off dairy free before adding cheese which makes this a great spot for those watching their macros. Whether it is for a quick lunch, afternoon drink or full on dinner, stop by the Taco Loft to enjoy the ambience while enjoying your eats. Jose Jose (https://josejosereddeer.wordpress.com/)

Jose Jose is a cute and quaint Latin American restaurant that many refer to has hidden or tucked away. They offer an incredible experience from both their food as well as their atmosphere. My favorite part about this restaurant is you can chose your spice level from 1-10 for most of your meals. The enchiladas were some of the best that I have ever had. The staff are a different level of friendliest making your experience at Jose Jose a memorable one.
