Calgary best steak restaurant

When many people think of Calgary, best steak restaurants are on their bucket list as Alberta is known for some of the best beef in Canada. We’ve provided below a variety of the best steak restaurants in Calgary. So whether you are looking for a fancy dinner or a laid back bar, we have you covered.

SALTLIK (https://saltlik.com/)

What I love about SALTLIK is it isn’t just a steak house. It has such a variety of mouth watering starters, beautiful cocktails and a variety of other dishes if your dinner party doesn’t feel like steak. From the atmosphere to the staff, SALTLIK is the ultimate best steak restaurant in Calgary. They also made my best restaurants in Calgary list which can be found here: https://airdriefoodie.com/2022/08/26/calgary-best-restaurants/. SALTLIK, from what I saw on their steak menu, only offers only 3 cuts of beef which doesn’t offer much variety but what they do offer is mind-blowing.

Caesar’s Steak House (https://www.caesarssteakhouse.com/)

Does Alberta beef is cut to order and charbroiled on an open-flame grill sound appealing? With decades of experience operating as one of Calgary’s best steak restaurants, Caesar’s delivers to that need of premium Albertan beef. Their supplier also has 5 decades of experience in Alberta. If you are in the mood for a restaurant that specializes in steak, then this is the place for you. They also have an extensive wine list and cocktail menu which includes their famous bloody Caesar. Don’t forget to add the twice-baked stuffed potato and the caramelized onion soup to your steak order.

Charcut Roast House (https://www.charcut.com/)

The first thing that you’ll notice when walking in Charcut is the striking décor. From the mason jar lighting to the barn wood paneling, this steakhouse in Calgary offers such an incredible ambience. If in doubt, go with the slow roasted prime rib which is one of their best sellers.

Hy’s Steakhouse (https://hyssteakhouse.com/locations/calgary)

Hy’s has been around since the 1950’s however they are in a different location. The steak tartare is one of my favorite menu options at Hy’s Steakhouse, however they are well known as the best Prime Grade steaks in Calgary. One thing that everyone can agree on is don’t forget the cheese toast, one of the restaurant’s highlights since 1955.

Minas Brazilian Steakhouse (https://www.minassteakhouse.com/)

Rodizio anyone? That means are you ready for an all you can eat BBQ experience? If you have never had churrasco, then you’re missing out. Brazilians have to most incredible way to barbeque their meat which is beyond what you’ve experienced in North America. I had to pleasure of living down in Brazil and I can tell you that Minas is truly authentic in how they cook their meat.

Fried polenta and cassava are a tradition in Brazil so I suggest you try those as well. Feijoada is a traditional black bean stew that is also a hit in Brazil and often consumed on Wednesdays. As a starter go with the PÃO DE QUEIJO which is bun in Brazil made with tapioca flour which gives it a chewy cheesey texture. An absolute must try are the coxinhas (Brazilian chicken croquettes). You must also experience the escondidinho (like a Sheppard’s pie but made with catipury cheese and mandioca instead of potatoes) at the Rodizio or to take home.

Modern Steak (https://modernsteak.ca/)

Modern steak is all about local as it works with Alberta’s local ranchers to get their premium beef. On the menu is Wagyu which many says rivals that of Japan. The restaurant itself is filled with sophisticated décor. There are also many vegan and vegetarian options as well.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House (https://ruthschrissteakhouse.ca/)

Not sure where Ruth’s steak house is located? Then just look up! Ruth’s is located inside the Calgary Tower which is one of the main attractions in the city. They are highly popular with tourists and locals alike. This is the perfect restaurant to have a bite to eat while you enjoy the views of downtown.

Vintage Chophouse (https://vintagechophouse.com/)

Lobster mac n cheese and the Alberta braised lamb shank are a must, even if you came for the steak and get these as a shareable. Prime rib options are on point and their wine list features over 600 types of wines. They also have live music nights which are exceptional. If you don’t enjoy a nice steak on its own, they offer a variety of unique sauces designed to augment the flavor.

CattleBaron Steakhouse (https://cattlebaroncalgary.com/)

What I love about CattleBaron is that all of their steaks are sourced within a radius of 150km. Their steaks don’t fall short on perfection as in terms of quality, they don’t accept anything below the top 4% of all beef produced in Canada. For you soup and sauce lovers, everything is crafted in house.

Big Fish & Open Range (https://www.bigfishopenrange.ca/)

Open Range varies slightly from the other steak houses as they offer a menu with a southern flair. From their fantastic brunch to special 7 course dinner events, Open Range brings local to you. Open Range uses prime grass fed Alberta beef that has been aged for 28 days making it one of the best steak restaurants in Calgary!
