Airdrie best restaurants

Below you will find a a list of Airdrie’s best restaurants. With Airdrie being listed as one of Alberta’s fastest growing cities, along comes a wack of establishments ready to cater on all of your foodie needs. From Asian to deli, to BBQ to Korean, Airdrie is starting to be known as the place where restaurants flourish.

Paros on Main (https://parosonmain.com)

Effrosini and her team are a dynamic powerhouse making Paros run like a fine tuned machine. With over 17 years experience, Efrrosini knows how to serve up authentic Greek cuisine. If you show up on the weekend there is normally live entertainment in the form of belly dancers. I’ve had many dishes from there an I honestly say I can’t recommend one over another as they are all good, but I would highly recommend the Saganaki, which is flaming cheese. Not only is it entertaining but is is absolutely mouth watering making this one of Airdrie’s best restaurants.

Abes (https://www.abesfood.ca)

Abes is a cozy and chic restaurant with limited seating however if you should have to wait, it will be worth it. Luis and Aliser Gonzalez immigrated to Canada in 2009 first working at the Fairmont Lake Louis but fortunately enough for all of us, they opened shop in Airdrie and the community has been loving it ever since. I’ve been there for brunch, lunch and dinner and was also left satisfied with a fully belly and great service. For brunch the Truffle Eggs Benny or the Brisket Breakfast Poutine are my top 2. For lunch or dinner, their poutines, burgers and/or a milkshake is a must!

Tequila & Tacos (https://tequilandtacos.ca)

Tequila & Tacos as changed locations a few times, however their current Bayside location is my fav by far. The outdoor patio area in the summer over looking the canal while sipping on pina coladas is perfection adding it to the list of Airdrie’s best restaurants. From the music to ambience, this place doesn’t disappoint. Both the drinks and the food are one hundred percent authentic. The only reason this place didn’t place higher was the service. I’ve eaten there many times and often each phase is a long wait. So if you do grab the attention of the server I would definitely order 2 rounds of drinks and an appie. I feel in the evening throughout the summer there is the missed business opportunity where they could easily run a few events such as Latin dance lessons while you sip on some bevy’s.

Noodle King (https://www.noodlekingairdrie.ca)

There are quite a few Vietnamese restaurants in Airdrie, however in my opinion, Noodle King is the best Vietnamese restaurant in the list of Airdrie’s best restaurants. When you enter, you’ll normally be greeted by an elegant and polite lady who many refer to as Madame. Her daughter also works there along with some other friendly staff. There is lots of seating and service is extremely fast. My go to here is the Grilled Chicken and Spring roll on vermicelli w/ fish sauce. There are many who order the soups, and bubble tea production is always on the go with delivery drivers popping in and out with trays of bubble tea so it must be exceptional however I have yet to try it myself.

Shawarma Palace (https://www.shawarma-palace.com)

There are a few good Shawarma places in Airdrie. If we were going for presentation alone, then I’d go with Pita Basket. For customer service, I’d go with Xtreme Donair. But if we are talking about food alone my top pick is Shawarma Palace. I typically get the chicken platter but I’ve never been disappointed with anything on their menu. What I love about this place, besides the overall taste of literally everything, is the fact that they don’t shy out on portion sizes. Nothing is worse then having a restaurant measure everything out. They will stack your container jammed full of meat, potatoes, rice, veggies and salad. They have 4 locations in all, most being in Calgary.

Paul’s Pizza (https://pauls.pizza)

Most residents from Airdrie are aware of the history and long time feud (well let’s call it friendly competition) between Old Town Pizza and Paul’s. Drama set aside, Paul’s has done exceptionally well and has in fact expanded to two more Calgary locations. Although Old Town Pizza does have some really good daily deals, Paul’s still delivers a better Pizza. I’ve eaten at both establishments and have ordered the same pizzas and although they are near identical, Old Town Pizza was consistently dry and overcooked. If you’re looking for a true authentic thin crust Italian pizza then this isn’t the place, but if you enjoy a pizza that is thick as a brick then this is your gem and the reason why it made best pizza on Airdrie’s best restaurants. The pasta is also exceptional along with a few select other dishes.

On Mondays, they donate a portion of the proceeds to a local charity which is really nice for the community support aspect.

The only downside of Paul’s was their brunch. I had an omelet and was highly disappointment as the cheese inside was a few kraft singles which is mind blowing since they have tons of fresh cheese for their pizzas.

For those on restrictive diets, Paul’s offers gluten free as well as keto crust.

Moody’s Mediterranean (https://moodysmediterranean.ca)

Chef Moudie is not only an amazing chef but also just an overall great guy. You’ll always be greeted like an old time friend. If you’re a regular, Chef Moudie remembers your order. You can’t get better customer service than that! Chef Moudie and his family have over 15 years of experience in the restaurant industry and have spent 6 years oversees in Mediterranean countries sample cuisine in order to create the perfect menu. They have a large patio and are fully licensed. All the ingredients are super fresh. I love their bowls and platters but you’ll still enjoy anything off of their extensive menu.

Yum Yum Chicken and BBQ (https://yumyumbbq-airdrie.ca)

Yum Yum Chicken has a few locations around Alberta but they seem to operate independently. When you walk in, there is always K-Pop on their TV so you can jam to BTS or Black Pink as you wait for your chicken. Their Twist Potato is a cool looking side and reminiscent of my time in Asia where they are really popular. If you’re undecided between Korean BBQ or the Chicken, go with the Yum Yum chicken or Chicken Burger. Chicken on the go also has some pretty decent fried chicken, however Yum Yum’s is far superior and made the list of Airdrie’s best restaurants.

Flavours of Montreal (https://flavoursofmontreal.com)

Flavours of Montreal will remind you of the hospitality of an old school diner with modern appeal. Definitely some of the friendliest staff you’ll meet, especially Head Chef and Owner Jacques and his wife. I’m really happy this place survived as they have sure faced their share of obstacles between covid and then the street construction that closed off automobile access for, it seems like, over a year. Well business is booming more than ever so what a better way to support local then to head on over. Being born and raised in Montreal, I can tell you that their smoked meat sandwich can beat out any Montreal shop.

All their baked goods are made in store (w/ the exception of gluten free to avoid gluten contamination). My favorites at this exceptional restaurant are the cabbage rolls and sugar pie. Other items include tourtière (a meat pie that you need to try if you haven’t already), fries, poutine, Montreal style subs and a variety of other items.

Queen Latina Bake Shoppe (https://queen-latina-bake-shoppe.business.site)

Owner Don Enrique is incredibly friendly (check out their Google reviews if you don’t believe me) and serves up some of the best empanadas or pastelitos (if your Venezuelan) you’ll ever try. My go to are the chorizo ones. The salsa is always fresh so make sure to grab a container as it is sure to go fast. The baked goods are out of this world with Tres Leches toping as my fav but definitely give the others a whirl. They also have a small grocery store inside offering a variety of products from Latin America.
